As is known, in the last two years sales of sedan cars in Indonesia declined by 20 percent. Based on data from research institutes and international analysis of Frost & Sullivan, in 2010 sales of sedan cars reached 33,128 units. Meanwhile, in 2011, the figure was down 19.4 percent to 26,712 units.
"It can not be denied, sedan type car sales in recent years the trend is not positive. But, it's not because his type is preferred, but the price is quite expensive," said Managing Director of PT Ford Motor Indonesia, Good Susanto.
According to him, the price of the expensive sedan type car in Indonesia, because the Sales Tax on Luxury Goods (PPnBM) more expensive than other cars such as SUVs (Sport Utility Vehicle) and hatchback. "Government regulations about the luxury sales tax based on body style and engine capacity. So, that's what makes selling sedan type cars are not as high as others," said Good.
However, he explained, Ford's decision to keep releasing all-new Fiesta sedan version is a form of Ford's efforts, in order to meet the needs of customers in Indonesia. "We have many inquiries from consumers who wish to have made the Fiesta sedan version. Because of a sedan type somewhat more mature and elegant, rather than targeting the hatchback that more young people," he explained.
He added that Ford's forward strategy is to complete all the line-up of any existing product. Ranging from sedans, pickups, and SUVs (Sport Utility Vehicle). "We have also set up a new product in the mini-SUV class, the Ford Ecosport," he added.
All New Ford Fiesta sedan, as a whole has a resemblance to the Fiesta hatchback. The car that relies on the engine capacity of 1400 cc and 1,600 cc, had exhibited at one of the FMI authorized dealers in the area of Tangerang.
As is known, Ford's total sales during 2011 reached 15,988 units. All New Ford Fiesta became the biggest contributor to sales of Ford Motor Indonesia. Type hatchback car is able to sell as many as 7005 units.
Meanwhile, the second largest contributor is the Ford Ranger. This car retail sales jumped 28 percent compared to prior to 6881 units.
